Režisér, scénárista, producent a asistent režie Bernard Guillou začal točit v roce 1966, byl to krátkometrážní snímek Une starlette au haras, ke kterému napsal také scénář. Daleko úspěšnější byl ovšem jeho film s Pierre Richardem a Jeanem Carmetem Seber si svých pět švestek, který měl premiéru v roce 1983. V sedmdesátých letech Guillou sbíral zkušenosti jako asistent režie Serge Korbera v kultovních komediích jako Idiot v Paříži (1966, s Jeanem Lefebvre), Na stromě (1971, s Louis de Funésem), Le Rallye des joyeuses (1974, s Michel Vocoretem), nebo ve francouzsko-kanadském dramatu À propos de la femme. Po roce 1985 se stáhl ze světa filmu.
